My name is Amy and I'm from the UK. I have always loved learning languages. I studied French and German at university, and I have lived in Germany, France and in Belgium, where I worked as a translator for 5 years. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, swimming and dancing salsa.Me as a Teacher
Since 2022, I have been working as an online German and French teacher. I teach beginners to advanced learners, covering grammar, pronunciation, conversational phrases, exam preparation, idioms and much more. It's a real joy for me to share my knowledge of the German and French language and culture with my students.My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are relaxed and student-focused. I choose topics and exercises that suit my students' interests and needs. I also give my students lots of time to speak in German and to ask questions. I like to encourage my students and to build them up by giving constructive feedback on how to improve.My teaching material

2024 - 2025
Lecturer in Conference InterpretingTeaching post-graduate students the techniques to interpret speeches in French, German and Spanish into English, with a focus on cultural awareness. Using practical and interactive exercises to help the students develop their skills and providing them with constructive feedback on language output. Assessing and grading exams, working closely with the team of lecturers. Lecturing on campus as well as online.
2024 - 2025
EFL TeacherDesigned and delivered English lessons to groups of 30 international students, aged 11-18. Adapted lessons to large class sizes, classes of mixed abilities and students from different language backgrounds. Used interactive activities and games to encourage teamwork. Taught academic English to students sitting the C1 and C2 Cambridge Certificate. Working closely with the EFL team.
2022 - Current
German and French tutorGiving French and German lessons to small groups and individuals both in-person and online. Teaching 11-18 year olds grammar, expanding their vocabulary and preparing for school exams.

Immersed myself in the French and German language, broadening my linguistic knowledge to specialist fields. As head of the English booth, trained up and coached colleagues and assessed candidates during recruitment interpreting tests.
