Turkish Language and Culture for Travelers and Newcomers to Turkey My name is Amy Utkan. I am an American living in Ponte Vedra, Florida. After graduating from University of Florida, my husband and I moved to Istanbul, Turkey. We lived there for almost 20 years. While there, I taught English at a local preschool for more than 15 years. I loved living in Turkey and learning Turkish and all about the Turkish culture. I taught preschoolers English in Istanbul, Turkey for more than 15 years. I learned from the young learners that the best way to learn a new language is to immerse yourself in it. Keeping an open mind and an open ear help to make the learning process easier and more relaxed. I hope to bring that insight and experience to my Turkish lessons. My teaching style promotes listening as a key feature. The lessons involve role playing in typical Turkish scenarios. They also involve listening to conversations and pulling out key words and ideas. My lesson also feature videos and music to keep the mood relaxed and enjoyable.
