From Textbook Japanese to REAL Japanese 🌸| Let's Talk! Hi! こんにちは! My name is Julia 🌸 I love connecting with people and learning about different cultures. I’m currently learning Portuguese myself, so I know firsthand how intimidating it can feel to speak a new language, especially when you’re worried about making mistakes, sounding “unnatural,” or not knowing what people actually say in real life. I grew up in Yokohama, Japan, about 30 minutes from Tokyo, and attended Japanese public, private, and international schools. I’m bilingual in Japanese and English, and I completed the International Baccalaureate program studying in both languages. My hot take? I’m all for conversational Japanese. A lot of people come to me wanting to talk about the backpacking trip they took around Japan, 朝マック (McDonald’s breakfast in Japan!), anime, Japanese fashion, convenience stores, or little cultural differences they noticed while travelling. And the interesting thing is: there often isn’t one “correct” answer. There are only nuanced ones. That’s what I want to help you understand. Instead of only teaching textbook Japanese, I want to teach you what people actually say in Japan IRL, such as natural expressions, casual language, slang, and the small details that make a conversation feel genuinely Japanese. We can talk about whatever you’re interested in while building your confidence speaking Japanese naturally. I especially love movies and TV shows, reading, tennis, fashion, and learning about different cultures. 一緒に楽しく日本語を話しましょ☺️🇯🇵
