Hujambo! I’m Mapati, your friendly native Swahili tutor. Swahili isn’t just my language—it’s my culture and my passion, and I love helping learners like you build real confidence in speaking it. I have 2 years of experience as a swahili tutor, and I specialize in helping beginners and intermediate learners build confidence and speak naturally. My lessons are more than just vocabulary and grammar; I blend language, culture, and real-life experiences so that learning Swahili becomes both practical and deeply personal. I enjoy sharing stories, traditions, and everyday expressions to make your learning journey meaningful and memorable. As someone who is also learning Zulu, I truly understand the challenges, joys, and sometimes even frustrations that come with starting a new language from scratch. That personal experience shapes everything I do in the classroom, and it helps me support you every step of the way. Karibu—let’s discover Swahili together!

Great lesson with Mapati! We continued reviewing with "parts of the body". In addition to naming them, we made sentences describing them. Mapati also explained about the "object" with the verb. Mapati does a great job of giving positive feedback, which makes me feel that I'm making good progress learning with her!

Great lesson with Mapati! We revisited greetings and introductions, which was a good idea of Mapati because I had trouble remembering some of the vocabulary. However, Mapati took everything in stride and when I gave a wrong answer she made me feel good for trying. I really appreciate Mapati for making each lesson enjoyable and productive!

Great lesson with Mapati! We continued learning about "parts of the body", including making plurals and making sentences describing what we use the parts for. We also talked about different things like the difficulties that young people are facing today. Mapati did a nice job of mixing up the lesson to keep things fresh and interesting!

Great lesson with Mapati! We learned about colors and clothes. Mapati had different pictures ready to show me about colors and clothes. Mapati also creatively used different colored items so that we could describe them, as well as describing the flags of Kenya and the US. Mapati also does a really nice job of reviewing material from previous lessons to keep them fresh in mind!
