Bonjour, I am Matthias, a Sorbonne University-certified French instructor specializing in exam preparation (DELF/DALF/TCF/TEF) & fluency development. With over 15 years of experience at prestigious institutions including Alliance Française & international universities—and 10 years teaching online—I have successfully trained 750+ students across 40+ nationalities (ages 8-80). My methodology combines CEFR-aligned instruction with personalized coaching techniques, adapted for learners at all levels—from complete beginners to advanced speakers. I customize the classes for every student depending on their levels, their needs, their interests and their objectives. I meticulously prepare each class using adapted and certified educational materials that I select for each student according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) standards accredited by the French government. Also, I constantly offer extra exercices and activities as homework in between classes upon request from my students. I offer not only general French classes, but also conversational classes for intermediate and advanced levels. Matthias is the most encouraging teacher I have had on italki! He is really good at pushing you out of your comfort zone without making you feel scared or uncomfortable. I was able to speak French from the first couple of classes because I felt safe and supported. My test preparation classes are thought-through and the feedback on my mistakes is very useful because it helps me learn the logic behind the task (not just what's correct)!

Matthias is the French teacher of my dreams! I have been taking lessons with him consistently for the last 8 months, and during this time he has helped me immeasurably. My comprehension of both spoken and written French have improved enormously, and what I am most pleased about is that my ability to speak French with greater fluency is so much better.
It is very clear that Matthias takes great pleasure in teaching French, and that he loves sharing his French culture and his life experiences. He customises each of my classes for my level and carefully prepares the materials he will use, for example spoken and written exercises, presentation slides, photos, videos, and all homework assignments. He is exceedingly patient, always enthusiastic and positive, and extremely kind. He is consistently well organised, and he is unfailingly passionate about teaching. Honestly, I cannot recommend him highly enough, he is an amazing French teacher!
