Hi there, and thanks for checking out my profile! (Please note that my profile video is a bit outdated 🤭 I'm working on that! For a more current glimpse of how I look and speak, check out my personal lifestyle vlog on YouTube (@katjavertelina) I’m originally from Moscow, but since 2021 I’ve been living in the Netherlands — and in 2025, I moved to beautiful Finnish Lapland. My passion for languages led me to study linguistics at university in Moscow, where I also completed a course in teaching Russian as a foreign language. For five years, I was a proud member of the Easy Russian team, creating educational content for Russian learners on YouTube. My students often tell me they’ve never felt so confident speaking Russian as they do during our lessons — and that makes me really happy! I believe the best way to build this kind of confidence is by not being afraid to make mistakes, while I gently correct them and help you notice patterns. I know what it’s like to learn a foreign language — not just as a teacher, but also as a student. I speak English and Dutch (not perfectly, but I'm still learning), and right now I’m a beginner in Finnish. Katja is a super teacher. Learning from her is effortless and uncomplicated. She explains the nuances of the language and is very patient when I forget some words. I have not yet had an hour spent with her where I did not feel I haven't 100% benefited from the lesson. I highly recommend her.

Really enjoyed my lesson with Katja! I felt super comfortable as she was very patient and attentive while I spoke. I like that she spoke Russian for the duration of the lesson and refrained from speaking in English, unless it was necessary.
