Hello, My name is Ashley and I’m a friendly and patient English and Swahili tutor. I enjoy helping learners gain confidence and communicate naturally in real-life situations.
I teach Swahili for beginners and intermediate learners, focusing on everyday conversation, travel, culture and practical usage. My lessons are structured but relaxed and I explain concepts step by step so learners feel comfortable speaking from the very beginning.
I also teach English as a Community Tutor, mainly for conversation, daily communication, pronunciation and fluency. My English is clear and easy to understand, making my lessons suitable for learners who want simple explanations and a supportive learning.
Me as a Teacher
As a teacher, I’m patient, supportive and passionate about helping my students succeed. I believe learning should be enjoyable and practical, so I always create lessons that match each student’s goals and level. My background in Education Science has given me strong teaching and communication skills, which I use to make every lesson clear and engaging. I love seeing my students grow in confidence and develop a genuine interest in the Swahili and English language. My goal is to make you feel comfortable, motivated and proud of your progress in every lesson.
My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are interactive, student-centered and focused on real communication. I use a mix of conversations, vocabulary practice, grammar explanations and cultural topics to help you understand and speak Swahili with confidence. I always adjust my teaching style to fit each learner’s goals .Whether you’re a beginner, traveler or professional. You’ll learn through everyday examples, role plays and simple exercises that make teaching the languages easy and fun. I also encourage my students to speak as much as possible because I believe language learning happens best through practice and confidence-building.

Great lesson with Ashley! We made some basic sentences using pronouns, nouns and verbs. We also learned about negation of past, present and future. Ashley gave me sentences to transform into negative sentences. Ashley explained everything very well and helped me understand!

Fun lesson with Ashley! Ashley talked about Kenyan culture and we talked about the differences between US and Kenya. After that, we learned about prepositions. Ashley did a nice job of quickly mentioning some more difficult material before moving on with the lesson!

I had a first lesson with Ashley. It went well. Ashley asked about what my interests are in learning. She had a presentation ready to show me the basics, and gave me some good information!
