Born in the Chicago area but rooted in Spain for 14+ years, I’m a TEFL-certified teacher specializing in *natural, confident English conversation*. What's important to me as a teacher is for my students to feel comfortable speaking in class, not afraid to make mistakes and to be aware of their progress. I do this by creating a relaxed setting, not interrupting my students and correcting necessary mistakes towards the end of my lessons (or even better, having them correct them on their own), and always encouraging them as they move along on their language-learning journey. I’ve been taking lessons with Kathleen for two months now, and I can safely say that I’ve found my new favourite teacher on italki! Even though my main goal is conversational practice, there are many things that need to click in order to work with someone in the long run: a kind personality, genuine interest in the other person, and the ability to talk about almost anything. That’s why finding the right teacher often feels like a constant search - but this time it wasn’t in vain :)

I really enjoyed my lesson with Kathleen. We thoroughly discussed my learning plans and the goals we’ll be working toward, and we also outlined the tools and methods we’ll use in our sessions. I shared all my preferences, which the teacher carefully noted, and she asked clear follow-up questions on every topic I’m interested in. Together, we set realistic goals and agreed on how we’ll move forward.
I highly recommend her. I genuinely enjoyed the lesson, I will continue studying with her, and I’m confident that with her guidance I’ll be able to achieve all my goals.
