Hello, I’m Tomo. I’m a professional Japanese teacher with over 7 years of on-site teaching experience, and more than 6,000 hours of total teaching experience. I’ve taught students from more than 20 countries, working in a wide range of settings such as language schools, universities, and government-supported projects. I now focus on working with a small number of students so I can give each person careful, individual attention. Language learning, for me, is always about human connection. My teaching style is not about rushing through content or following a textbook page by page. Instead, I focus on helping you understand how Japanese works, so you can actually use it with confidence. What makes my lessons different is how I personalize the material. We follow a textbook as a clear structure, so you always know where you are and where you’re going. But I don’t teach it mechanically. I pay close attention to: - how you think, - where you get confused, - what kind of explanation actually helps you understand. During the lesson, we use a shared Google Doc to take notes together. This document becomes your personal study material, which you can review and use for self-study. My goal is not just to make lessons enjoyable, but to help you truly build ownership of the language. That’s why many of my students stay long-term and gradually gain confidence in real-life Japanese. 📚 Personalized Lessons Textbooks may be used as a guide, but lessons are never one-size-fits-all...

Thank you again, Tomo, for another excellent lesson. Much of what she reviewed with me before the JLPT actually appeared on the exam, which shows just how experienced she is and how well she understands the test. She always makes sure I fully understand each point before moving on. On top of that, she’s genuinely funny and makes every lesson enjoyable!

I am currently preparing for the JLPT exam, and Tomo 先生 has been incredibly supportive throughout my studies. She patiently explains grammar patterns and new vocabulary, and also offers valuable advice. Her lessons are structured and she creates lesson materials for class. She takes the time to write detailed notes for me to review after class. I truly appreciate her dedication and guidance; it has made a difference in my learning.
