TEFL-certified teacher with five years of experience tutoring online and in classrooms. Active as a writer and translator in addition to tutoring. I was born in the midwest of the US, lived for several years in Hong Kong (which I miss every day!) and am now based in Vancouver. My beliefs and language skills are not shaped by any particular place or ideology.

Me as a Teacher

My lessons are structured but fun, not obsessed with getting every detail right! I look at overall progress. I prefer to help intermediate to advanced students, but am also patient in dealing with A1 or A2 learners.

My lessons & teaching style

I believe in an interactive style in which the student will be talking as much as possible. I ask a lot of questions and introduce vocabulary then motivate the student to put it to good use immediately. I put an emphasis on correct pronunciation and being understood. You, the student, will be speaking and answering most of the time.
