Improve your English skills with tips from a writer and translator! Hello! I'm Dan, a TEFL-certified teacher with six years of experience tutoring online and in classrooms. I'm a writer and translator professionally. I was born in the midwest of the US, lived for several years in Hong Kong (which I miss every day!) and am now based in Canada. My lessons are structured but fun, not obsessed with getting every detail right! I look at overall progress. I prefer to help intermediate to advanced students, but am also patient in dealing with A2 or B1 learners. I believe in an interactive style in which the student will be talking as much as possible. I ask a lot of questions and expect students to use new vocabulary right away. Being understood is the goal. My lessons are structured but fun, not obsessed with getting every detail right!
