Real Japanese for Life in Japan | Native + 11 Years Abroad “An inch of movement is better than a mile of intentions.” Language learning is the same. Speaking a little today, even imperfectly, will take you further than waiting until you feel ready. Survive Japan with Real Japanese Conversation 💪🏼😎 Hi, I’m Takeo from Osaka. I recently returned to Japan after spending about 11 years abroad, mostly in Australia. I learned that communication is not only about knowing the right words. You also need to understand the culture, the mood and what is often left unsaid. My lessons focus on Japanese you can actually use in daily life, work, friendships and dating. What You Can Learn • Natural phrases Japanese people actually use • Polite Japanese that does not sound too formal • How to keep a conversation going • How to express your personality • Indirect answers and hidden meanings • Natural Osaka expressions and culture I will correct unnatural expressions and explain how your words sound to Japanese people. Each lesson is adjusted to your level, interests and goals. You do not need perfect Japanese. Make mistakes, ask questions and speak as much as possible. Let’s build your confidence together!

I've been taking lessons with Takeo for over a month now - during which we've steadily gotten to know each other not only as tutor and student, but also as peers. For what I'm after, namely a Japanese-speaking conversation partner with native insights, Takeo has been stellar. In addition to being a reliable and professional tutor who always wants to make sure his students' needs are being met, as a person he brings an earnest attitude and plenty of genuine lived experience. There will always be some degree of subjectivity with human relationships, and others' experiences may vary - but for my part, I'm extremely grateful to have met Takeo, and I look forward to continuing our relationship.

After having several lessons with Takeo now I can say he's a great dude and he's awesome to talk to. If you're looking to have conversations in real natural Japanese rather than fake textbook Japanese, his lessons are perfect. Every lesson has been very fun and he's always attentive, helping me figure out how to express words and ideas that I couldn't use before. Helps so much with gaining that initial confidence to be able to speak in the language. Looking forward to many more!

Since I have a trip to Japan in a few days, we did some roleplay of situations I might encounter at the airport and hotel. We also practised giving and listening to directions on how to get somewhere. Speaking is difficult for me but Takeo has made being being out of my comfort zone very enjoyable

In this lesson Takeo and I dicussed games and our favourite anime. He asked me to give a brief summary and we used that as a springboard for expanding on some vocabulary and sentence construction
