I'm Verónica and I was born in Asturias, in the North of Spain, but I have lived in Cork, Ireland, for the last 9 years. I have taught Spanish and English in Ireland for 8 years in language schools, universities and privately, online and face to face. I mainly teach adults but I also have experience teaching teenagers. I am currently teaching at an Irish university as well as privately.
I love languages and I have studied several second languages (English, French, Italian and German) and I am currently learning Irish, so I understand students' challenges and I am always happy to help them by sharing my own experiences.
In my free time, I enjoy doing yoga, zumba, drawing and reading.Me as a Teacher
I am a qualified Spanish and English tutor based in Cork City. I have a TEFL Certificate and a Certificate in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language. I have a wide knowledge about language and the learning process and hold a Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
I am passionate about helping my students, getting to know them and seeing their progress. I am patient, organised and resourceful and I like to create a relaxed and dynamic environment in which students can express themselves freely and have fun learning. I also love creating useful teaching materials to personalise the lessons. My lessons & teaching style
My teaching style is based mainly on the communicative method, although I combine different ones in my classes. Grammar is the part of the language most people have difficulty with, but I will break it down and contextualise in a way that it will feel easy, no matter what you background is!
I see languages not only as a means of communicating with people, but also as a way of accessing their culture and beliefs, so I include cultural aspects in all my lessons. I am ready to prepare my lessons to the fullest standard, catering for your own needs.
