My name is Tanisha, I am from the Metro-Atlanta area. I am a first-year student at Emory University majoring in Linguistics and Cognitive Science. I love learning new languages and expanding my understanding of the ones I already know. My language background includes native proficiency in English and Hindi, with intermediate proficiency in Urdu and German. Outside of languages, I enjoy cooking, music, reading, and exploring linguistic anthropology. Coming from a family of language teachers, I naturally developed a love for teaching. With prior experience teaching conversational English, my goal is to create a supportive and fun space where students can confidently work towards their goals!

Me as a Teacher

As a teacher, I focus on helping students build confidence in their conversational skills. My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and centered around real-life topics that match each student’s interests and goals. I encourage active speaking, natural sentence building, and practical vocabulary, while offering gentle corrections and helpful feedback. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident expressing themselves and improving through consistent practice!

My lessons are conversation-focused and designed to help students feel comfortable speaking from the start. I tailor each lesson to the student’s level, goals, and interests, using real-life topics, guided discussions, and practical exercises. I emphasize natural sentence building, pronunciation, and useful vocabulary, while providing gentle corrections and clear explanations. My teaching style is supportive, patient, and interactive, creating a low-pressure environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and build confidence through consistent speaking practice.
