I studied Classical Philology and I've always been interested in Turkish, my native language. However, learning Latin and Ancient Greek at an academic level actually strengthened my command of it. In short, I realised that learning any language — whether ancient or modern — also improves your native language skills. So, in my opinion, it’s really a case of hitting two birds with one stone. I never had the chance to learn those ancient languages by speaking with native speakers, of course, but now I'm here to speak with you — those of you who want to learn Turkish!
Me as a Teacher
I’ve been teaching Turkish for about two years, and I still start every lesson with the same excitement — sometimes even more than my students. My approach is simple: Clear explanations, lots of speaking practice, and a safe space where mistakes are not only allowed but also addressed. I believe learning a language should feel like a friendly conversation, not a tough puzzle. And since my English is at an intermediate level, you'll end up speaking more Turkish with me, which is great for your learning. So bring your curiosity, your questions, and yes, even your ‘oops moments’. I’ll be right there, helping you progress step by step and hopefully making you smile along the way.
My lessons & teaching style
Studying ancient languages has helped me to understand how languages evolve. I believe that a language cannot be separated from the culture, history, geography, way of life and general behaviour patterns of the people who speak it. So in our lessons, I’ll answer your questions from these perspectives and guide you to sense how to think in Turkish naturally as you speak.
