Learn Turkish with a Classical Philologist | Turkish Tutor with 2 Years’ Experience I studied Classical Philology and have always been interested in Turkish, my native language. Learning Latin and Ancient Greek at an academic level actually strengthened my command of it. In short, I realised that learning any language — ancient or modern — can also improve your native language skills. So, in my opinion, it’s really a case of hitting two birds with one stone. I’ve been teaching Turkish for about two years and have also completed a Certificate in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University. I still start every lesson with the same excitement — sometimes even more than my students! My approach is simple: clear explanations, lots of speaking practice, and a safe space where mistakes are allowed and addressed. I believe learning a language should feel like a friendly conversation, not a tough puzzle. I also believe that students should be exposed to Turkish as much as possible, so I use Turkish as the main language of our lessons and only use English when it is genuinely necessary. Studying ancient languages has helped me understand how languages evolve. I believe a language cannot be separated from its culture, history, geography, way of life and the people who speak it. In our lessons, I’ll answer your questions from these perspectives and help you develop a natural feel for thinking in Turkish as you speak.
