About Me
italki teacher since Jan 19, 2016InterestsMusicHistoryScience
In my early twenties, I found my small piece of land unsatisfactory, prompting me to leave my home country and relocate to India where I resided for 13 years. During my stay, I adopted Buddhism and lived in Tibetan monasteries where I relished learning about philosophy and India through a Tibetan lens. Eventually, I returned to Switzerland and enrolled in a university program. I have studied Cognitive Science and Education for Adults, and am also drawn back to Northern Sweden, where I experience the beauty of the northern lights, endure -35ºC temperatures, and 6-month-long winters.
I also do long treks by bicycle.Me as a Teacher
During my time in India, I had the opportunity to teach English, science, and meditation to a diverse group of Tibetan monks and nuns ranging from the age of four and up. My main focus was to understand the wants and needs of my students during the learning process, and I made a conscious effort to tailor my teaching methods by incorporating techniques from both Eastern and Western education to cater to their unique requirements.
Since then, I've also been studying Education for Adults at university, to complement my practical knowledge. My lessons & teaching style
The one-on-one learning experience can be tailored to the unique needs of the learner. As a language teacher, my teaching style emphasizes personalized instruction, where I take the time to get to know my student's language level, learning style, and specific objectives.
My approach to teaching is communicative and student-centered, where the focus is on building practical communication skills. I believe that language learning is most effective when it is a fun, engaging, and interactive experience. Therefore, I strive to create a relaxed and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and taking risks using a variety of materials. My teaching material

It’s sooooooooo helpful to study colloquial Tibetan with somebody who has both a clear mastery of the language AND a lived experience of learning it as a non-native tongue. Adelaide intuitively knows where the most prominent stumbling blocks lie, and can provide immense clarity where there has otherwise been a mess of confusion. Many thanks.

Adelaide's way of learning Tibetan is so intuitive even though the language is tough, but she made it relatively easier to grasp. Thank you so much.

Our 100th lesson was as interesting and informative as the first. We continued to delve into the depths of syllogisms as the bamboo shoots grew up behind the mirror.

The previous teacher often use language such as "my other students have no problem learning this way" "maybe you just need to study harder"... made me feel tiny bit judged and wondering about my own learning ability. Adelaide not once use language of this nature, and the "obstacles" I faced with the previous teacher, was explained and fully understood within minutes with Adelaide method of teaching...
