Habari! Jambo! Jina langu ni Romanus.
My name is Romanus, and I am from Tanzania. I am a native Swahili speaker and an experienced Swahili tutor with over 3 years of teaching students from beginner to advanced levels.
I support learners with conversational and business Swahili, focusing on building confidence so you can speak naturally and with ease. My lessons are practical, supportive, and adapted to your goals and learning style.
I love traveling, playing football, travel photography, and learning languages. While studying in Germany, I learned German myself, so I truly understand the challenges of learning a new language.
Karibu sana darasani! I look forward to learning with you.

Me as a Teacher
As a Tutor, I help students learn Swahili for daily conversation, travel, work, and cultural understanding. I’m patient, supportive, and student-focused, and I always adapt my lessons to each learner’s level and goals. I encourage students to speak confidently and see mistakes as a natural part of learning. As a native speaker, I share authentic pronunciation, common phrases, and cultural insights used in real-life communication across Tanzania and East Africa.
My main aim is to make sure that you reach your learning goals, and so I tailor each and every class to a student's specific needs. I use the trial lesson to better understand exactly what what your needs are.

The Lesson was excellent. Even though my english is not the best, i had a very nice time. I fehlt like I made a lot of progress and Rom was very Kind and helpful. Furthermore he had everything well prepared. We did some Tasks and He explained everything perfect. I can only recommend it.

Teacher’s pick
I had a really positive experience learning with Rom. From the beginning, he took time to understand my goals and structured the lesson in a very clear and organized way. As a beginner, I felt comfortable because he explained everything step by step and made sure I understood before moving on.
Rom is very patient and knowledgeable. He answers questions clearly and gives helpful explanations, especially with pronunciation. At the same time, he brings great energy to the class while still keeping a calm and focused atmosphere. I also appreciated how disciplined and well-prepared the lesson was; it felt structured but never rigid.
Overall, the class felt balanced, supportive, and motivating. I’m looking forward to continuing my Swahili journey with him.
