Ben 老师 is a fantastic teacher. Prior to signing up with him I had been stagnant at the beginner-intermediate level for a few years. That completely changed after finding his excellent youtube channel "Chinese with Ben", I knew then that I had to sign up for lessons with him. I've made more progress in a month under the guidance of Ben than I had in the last year! The secret is that it doesn't even feel like a class, it just feels like a fun and natural conversation where new vocabulary and grammar is introduced with context. That is the magic of the comprehensible input based approach he uses in class. I picked the learn chinese with chinese approach, he can effortlessly adjust his speaking speed and vocabulary level for you to understand. Teaching Chinese is his passion, he lives it and breathes it. Offering tailored 1on1 lessons, releasing quality learning material on youtube and even co-running a podcast about teaching Chinese 大叔中文. Look no further you've found your teacher.

I sometimes wish I had contacted Ben earlier. I'm increasingly realizing how targeted learning for the HSK1-3 (and probably all further levels) differs from what is needed in real life. Ben makes each lesson so practical, lively and relaxed that you almost become addicted to more. There's nothing like having someone who understands their profession!

Today I had another great class with Ben; we learned new vocabulary and immediately implemented it in real-life situations, Ben wrote down the vocabulary so help visualize it with the Chinese characters, and then ask me to use the new words to describe a story through pictures. It is a surprisingly effective memory recall tool, as Ben is constantly forcing you to use the new vocabulary in a variety of contexts, building on the vocabulary and grammar points developed in previous lessons. He is an extremely experienced and proficient teacher! Highly recommended.

I've been taking lessons with Benfang since October. He is always well prepared for class and brings alot of energy. He uses Chinese the whole time and introduces really useful vocabulary and sentence patterns through normal conversation. We cover alot in each session, but it flies by and I look forward to the next one. In the past, I've always kept my sentences super short as I'm not confident speaking. With Benfang, I feel like I can expand alot more and am able to talk about things using more detail and accuracy. Since each lesson builds on what we did before, it's getting easier to recall and use structures more automatically.
