Living in Other, Italy

I speak English, French, Swedish and Italian fluently. I grew up travelling and it made me learn quickly about different cultures and perspectives. I studied to become a teacher and translator but I worked in stores, museums and as a babysitter as well. I like challenges and new things. I love music, dancing - especially ballet and art. I studied art history but I haven´t worked with it (not yet). I love to paint, draw and talk about beautiful things. I love nature and travelling. People say I am patient, resilient but that I get bored pretty easily. I stay patient but I need to have reasoning and motivation behind what I am doing. I worked as a teacher privately - as a tutor or a mentor - for over 17 years and as a teacher in schools - at different levels - for 7 years. I have seen students achieve great results and I love to seem them happy and satisfied with their achievements. I always prioritise the student´s personality and individual goals. I like to give structure and a meaning to what we learn. As I said in the previous paragraph, I tend to get bored pretty easily so I know how hard it can be to stay calm and focused on books. But I know that I have to slow down if something becomes unclear or difficult. I adapt to students and I find the right method to give language-notions.

She is definitely the best teacher I have met on Italki. She is so professional in language learning, and she gave me many amazing, helpful suggestions for improving my English. I am so glad I met Gene. She is a truly exceptional teacher — don’t miss the chance to learn from her. She is the treasure here.

Gene provides lots of useful materials both during and after lessons. He manages to explain things using very vivid examples that help you visualise the words in your mind. She is able to identify, based on the student’s native language, what the main difficulties in the new language might be.

Gene makes everything fun. She’s very patient and if things aren’t clear, she repeats it very calmly. She’s inspiring.
