Based in Seoul, I am a certified Korean teacher, architectural educator, and bookstore owner. Currently, I run a bookstore themed around "the city and nature" and operate an Airbnb accommodation that I personally revitalized from a vacant house. Previously, I founded the social venture "spacehost," where I curated exhibitions utilizing abandoned houses to shed new light on historic neighborhoods like Seogye-dong, Ikseon-dong, and Insadong. Exploring and documenting these old areas has deeply nourished my philosophy. Through these experiences, I realized that language does not merely reside in textbooks; it lives and breathes within the spaces and contexts where people actually live.Me as a Teacher
As a teacher, I don’t treat Korean as a collection of isolated words or grammar rules. Instead, I help you understand how language actually works in real situations—how people speak across different places, cultural contexts, and relationships. Drawing from my background in architecture and urban exploration, I guide you to think structurally and express yourself clearly, rather than just memorizing phrases. Moving forward, I will continue to develop this unique pedagogical approach. By integrating the literary narratives of my bookstore with the rich, place-based stories of my revitalized spaces, I will offer a deeply immersive and dynamic language learning experience. My lessons focus heavily on grammar, speaking, pronunciation practice, and highly practical conversation. For beginners, we build a solid foundation in sentence structure and natural sounds. Intermediate and advanced learners will refine their fluency, master cultural nuances, and practice natural expression used by locals. I also provide detailed writing correction when needed, always offering clear, constructive, and supportive feedback. I explain complex concepts step by step and strive to create a warm, relaxed environment. ceoI founded Spacehost, a pre-venture company, focusing on the social issue of empty homes. Prior to founding the company, I designed spaces and planned exhibitions to foster warmth in those living in empty homes.
2024 - Current
ceoI run a small bookstay project in a house that had been empty for 10 years.
We renovated the space to bring back warmth and life, so that a house is seen not as something to buy but as a place to live in.
On weekends, it becomes a cozy stay for guests, and on weekdays, it opens as a tiny “house-bookstore” where books welcome visitors.
Dosigan means “a small shop of stories that connects the time of the city.”
