My name is Ellen, and I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Global Studies and a minor in Modern Languages and Linguistics. I've always had a passion for language learning from growing up bilingual. I grew up speaking both Georgian and English, studied Russian in college, studied numerous other languages formally throughout my school years, and am now taking up Spanish.
I grew up in the Washington DC area and I currently live in Maine, but I move around frequently due to my spouse's career. When I'm not studying languages, I enjoy gaming, knitting, and going on day trips in the New England area.
Language and communication are passions of mine, and it has always been my desire to help individuals succeed in their language goals. I have over a year and a half of informal tutoring experience in both English and Georgian languages, all of which have been 1-1 lessons either in-person or online. I have also completed my TEFL certification earlier this year to solidify and formalize my teaching skills.
I value my students' experiences and will always be open to feedback.
My lessons are student-centered, which means I like to maximize student engagement and participation during lessons. I use a wide variety of lesson plans and activities that I tailor to each student's needs and interests to ensure each person receives a personalized language-learning experience.
