UK born Japanese Native teacher. With over 18 years of experience living in Japan. Fluent in English Hi, I’m Tomoya, a native Japanese speaker from Japan. I was born in the UK and lived there until I was 13, before moving to Japan, where I have been living ever since. Because of this, I am fluent in both English and Japanese, and I understand both cultures very well. I really enjoy teaching Japanese and helping students feel more confident when speaking. I know that Japanese can feel difficult at first, especially grammar, sentence structure, particles, and small nuances that do not translate directly into English. One of my strengths is that I can explain these points clearly in English, in a way that is easy to understand. My lessons are relaxed, friendly, and based on your goals. If you are a complete beginner, I can help you start from the basics, such as Japanese sounds, hiragana, simple sentence structure, and everyday phrases. If you already know some Japanese, we can work on conversation, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and natural expressions. I also have experience teaching English online, so I am used to explaining languages clearly and patiently. I want my lessons to be a place where you can feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and improving. I can also use the GENKI Third Edition textbook if you would like a more structured lesson. Whether you want to learn Japanese for travel, daily conversation, work, study, JLPT, or just because you enjoy Japanese culture, I would be happy to support you.
