Cantonese tutor from Guangdong who taught primary maths — I explain, you talk. Hi, I'm Celine, a native Cantonese speaker from Guangdong, China — the kind of family where breakfast happens in a cha chaan teng and TVB is always on in the background. What makes me different from most Cantonese tutors: I used to teach math in a primary school classroom. That job has one rule — if a student doesn't understand, it is not the student's fault. So when you tell me "I still don't get it", I don't repeat the sentence louder. I find a different example, a different picture, a different angle. What that means for you: No memorising tone charts. We start from the sentences you actually need — ordering in a cha chaan teng, asking a landlord a question, telling a doctor what hurts. You speak most of the lesson. I talk for maybe 20 minutes; You can't learn to speak by listening to me. Notes after every lesson — the exact phrases we used, with Jyutping. Preparing for Hong Kong — studying, a work visa, or your family moving? I know what those first weeks feel like. Adults and kids are both welcome. Certified primary school math teacher (Zhongshan Municipal Education and Sports Bureau, 2018); Mandarin Level 1-B (national Putonghua test); Certificate in School Mental Health Education, South China Normal University.
