I'm open as a person and I like discussing all sorts of topics with students, especially topics which are personally relevant and close to a student's heart. I find that language learning becomes more intense and interesting when dealing with such topics. Personally, I like topics which are related to social issues, culture, art and politics. One of my hobbies is reading literature, and I'm always glad to incorporate literary texts in lessons.Me as a Teacher
I have an MA TESOL from the New School university in New York, as well as a CELTA certificate and the Diadromes certificate for teaching Modern Greek. Recently I completed a Master's Degree on the way to earning my teaching license in Germany as an English teacher. I have been teaching both languages for ten years, and have experiences with a variety of ages and levels. I decided to become a language teacher because I enjoyed linguistics and learning languages so much, that I wanted to make it my profession.My lessons & teaching style
For me, it's important to let the student speak, and I am flexible when it comes to lesson structure. The thematic, vocabulary and grammar topics that come up in the student's discourse become the topics of our lesson. Otherwise, I like to do conversation games, such as guessing games or sentence building games. My students also find vocabulary games interesting. I do grammar especially in the beginning stages so the student can build some structure, and in later stages whenever an error keeps coming up and I want to drive a point home.My teaching material

Although I don't know much Greek at all, Harris uses really effective teaching methods, like using some vocabulary words that I already know and simply building off of that so that I remember the new vocabulary that we introduce in the lesson/am not so overwhelmed with completely new vocabulary. so, we are able to get by and make some sentences in Greek. He also has a good sense of humor-- so the jokes we come up with definitely help with remembering the words and constructions we talk about.

As someone who knows a couple things about teaching I can tell that Harris cares for his students and wants to be sure he is meeting the objectives for the lesson. He also always comes prepared with a few activities to work on instead of just making random senseless conversation. :) He is truly a teaching professional!

Great conversation with Harris! He is very patient I like that I can talk freely without worrying about making mistakes, he corrects my mistake subtly and recommends synonyms of the words which makes the conversation flow smoothly. Great first class!
