Hi! I am Mako from Yokohama, Japan.
After living abroad, I developed a new appreciation for Japanese culture, people, food and of course the Japanese language!
I didn't realize how many beautiful things come from Japan.
So many people have said to me “I love Japan” and I love that!
This makes me very happy.
I also wanted to learn more about my own country and language so I took courses in Japanese language, culture and history. It was so much fun to learn Japanese!
So…now I am a teacher and I want to teach you Japanese so you too will love Japan!

Me as a Teacher
I was a school teacher for several years so I've learned to teach live people and not just through the computer.
I teach not only adults but children too! I have taught 7 year old kids who did not speak Japanese at all when we began.
We started from Hiragana and worked up to words and sentences.
I love teaching all levels, so of course beginners are welcome!
I have textbooks allowing us to crossed between book based lessons and speaking lessons.
But if you want to be fluent in Japanese, you should learn with textbook, and learn Japanese language!
I'll teach you how to speak in a real conversational manner and not the formal helpful but not natural conversation method used by textbooks.
My lessons & teaching style
I use textbook, GENKI 1 and 2 for Japanese learners.
I recently started using 'Irodori,' the textbook which is free, so you can google it and find it!
I also teach survival Japanese for travelers. I can share the materials so don't worry!
I can teach JLPT N5, N4 and N3. I also have some materials so I can share it too!
I will teach grammar and vocabulary, but only learning grammar and vocabulary is boring! so sometimes talking about Japanese culture and people! I just want you to enjoy our lesson :)

She was very patient and knew how to navigate around my limited vocabulary so we could have a full conversation only in Japanese. I look forward to our next lesson!

I clicked great with Maco ^_^ She listened to me and to what my goals are. I felt good with sharing my motivation to learn and what I needed as a learner.
