I'm an experienced, certified school teacher who knows how to bring out the best in my students! I have taught courses in French and English to both second language learners and native speakers. My job is to make you feel good about learning a new language so that you progress quickly!
You will find me to be a listener with a few stories to tell. I have lived and worked in France and Denmark and travelled a fair bit in Europe. Currently, I live in Canada. We now have a young son whom you might meet (or hear!) at some point! At the moment, I am happy that he takes up most of my time, but I do like to read good books, see good films and chat with good friends once in a while.
Me as a Teacher
I am qualified to teach French as a second and as a native language at all grade levels in school and have taught at University.
I am a certified teacher in Canada (OCT) and England (QTS). I hold a BA in French (4 years), an MA in French, and a BEd in High School (Secondary) French as a second language (FSL) with a course on ESL. I hold additional qualifications in elementary (Primary) teaching and in French as a native language, and an Honour Specialist in French language teaching. I have formally studied the entire evolution of French beginning with Latin, then Old and Middle French, with a focus on modern European standard French. I am also proud to be very familiar with Québécois.
My lessons & teaching style
Feeling comfortable is perhaps the most important factor for success in learning a new language. While my own experience leads me to agree, this is supported by many studies. I am a teacher who makes students feel good about learning. It doesn't matter where you are now, you'll feel good about working with me to improve your level in the language. As a result, you'll learn faster and more easily. I have explained these concepts many times in many different ways because all students are unique, just like you. I have experience teaching everyone from young children to retired people. My lessons are always tailored to the individual needs of students so they meet their specific goals.

Chris is a great teacher; very knowledgeable about the pitfalls native English speakers face in French and he is expertly able to tailor his lessons to the professional needs of the student. Highly recommend.
