Hai, apa khabar semua? 😊
🙋🏻♂️I am Ammar from Malaysia. My hometown is in Kuantan, Pahang and now I am based in Selangor.
🌿 I started teaching Malay in 2016 by doing it part-time while working full-time as a chemist, but now I am a full-time teacher for more than 5 years. Learning languages has always been my passion since I was small, and now, I find that teaching them is fulfilling as well - I get to meet people from different from different background and nationality and learn about their cultures.
Me as a Teacher
I have no background in linguistics, but I can say confidently that I have deep understanding of how Malay works in real life.
🍃 My presence here is to assist Malay learners to speak Malay as naturally as they can, with the help of my self-created learning materials, based on my observation of how native speakers speak on a daily basis.
⚠️ If a student is learning conversational Malay, it is CRUCIAL to know the difference between Malay's spoken and written versions, so that they are using suitable vocabulary words and natural sentence structures.
My lessons & teaching style
I believe I am a friendly and easy-going person. Learning languages should be a fun journey for everyone. You will have a safe and comfortable environment to practice speaking the language when having a session with me!
My class is structured into several speaking proficiency levels. You will be provided notes for you to revise outside of class. In the first half of the lesson, I encourage my students to speak Malay by asking them questions. I will take this opportunity to test their understanding of previous class's topics as well. In the second half, we will take a look at some new grammar points or sentence structure to improve student's sentence construction skills.
Jumpa dalam kelas!

Ammar is a very professional teacher with good knowledge of the Malay language. Through his lessons I became aware of pronunciation rules in Malay that were not very obvious before. Looking forward to more lessons.

Always a good lesson with Ammar. His slides are great and easy to follow/review later. Having started as a beginner with him, I feel that my level of speaking has progressed quite a bit. I look forward to further lessons with Ammar and hope to eventually be able to speak in Malay 100% of the lesson time.

Ammar is very engaging and given the first lesson, I spoke more Malay in an hour compared to when I was taking Bahasa Melayu in language school. I am looking forward to the next class!

Ammar is one of the best teachers I've ever encountered on italki! He keeps the conversation going by asking questions and encourages you to speak in a comfortable and patient manner. I always feel like I get so much value out of our lessons together. Terima kasih, Ammar.
