The most authentic tutor you'll ever meet. It's me, it's me, it is indeed the A C E. I am Ken Masters, I am Ace Meda4, and I am your friendly neighborhood 1245Music representative. I'm a very simple guy who's all about gaming, writing, and rhyming. I am also a huge fan of various Asian cultures (primarily Japanese, South Korean, and Chinese), low key foodie, and self proclaimed hood chef. I am a very laid back tutor. My goal is to focus more on communication than the rules since, in my experience, most students don't have an opportunity to engage in functional, casual conversation. That realization is actually one of the things that inspired me to begin teaching, along with my desire to educate people on various aspects of black/hip hop culture and the general American experience. As I said in my "Me as a Teacher" section, I like to focus on black/hip hop culture through analyzing lyrics (usually my own). I find that it helps to gain a better understanding of the difference between how words are spelled or pronounced in more formal or classroom settings versus how someone might casually pronounce something. I also don't do the homework thing. Seems a bit excessive for people who have already chosen to go above and beyond and learn another (or several other) language(s). Outside of all that, we can review school work, talk about TV shows, politics, or whatever else may be on your mind!

Another insightful lesson. I can always learn from Ken's take on things. We worked on and talked about cadence, timing and stress in lyric writing. I made improvements, things are becoming second nature. If you're into music and especially in lyric writing I would recommend getting in touch with Ken.

I had a huge break in English. But with Ken you forget that you forgot how to talk. It seems like you can express everything and he'll help you haha

My first lesson with Ken has surpassed my expectation - he was more than "supportive, punctual, prepared". Before it started, he was quite responsive to messages, so he knew what I needed help with and where I came from, which made the lesson fairly productive. I learned a number of everyday idioms and gained more understanding of American culture in general, both of which Ken was able to explain clearly, and I could easily tell he's an experienced teacher. Needless to say, just like other comments that you can find on this page, he's truly gifted and knows a lot about hip-hop and rapping. It was such a delight to talk with him during the lessons, and his well-natured amiability certainly came through. Given my experience, I would unequivocally recommend Ken to other students who feel interested in learning more about American culture, that of hip-hop in particular, and English colloquialism. I'm very much looking forward to my next lesson.
