Hello! I'm Thuy, a Vietnamese language guide with deep roots in Hanoi's rich culture. Born and raised in Hanoi, I naturally teach the northern Vietnamese dialect with authenticity and ease.
However, 6 years in Hoi An and currently staying in Lam Dong has also given me valuable exposure to the southern dialect, allowing me to guide you through both if your journey requires it.
I specialize in teaching students aged 16 and above, crafting each lesson to match your unique pace, goals, and interests.

I became an English teacher in 2016 but I started teaching Vietnamese online in 2018.
I don't want to think of myself as a teacher, cause I want to be more like a friend, a companion who helps you learn Vietnamese. I understand the difficulties that many learners fear or have, so I have been trying to make myself like a Vietnamese friend whom you can trust and comfortably speak with.
The other reason I never want to think of myself as a teacher to my students is that I have been learning a lot from them, from academic knowledges to cultural, everyday life, etc... I'm grateful to have opportunities being their companion on the way to master Vietnamese so I'm sure I'll try my best for you too My lessons & teaching style
At the moment I focus in teaching conversational Vietnamese. Therefore, it's very important for us to have good, fun conversations during lessons with zero-stress atmosphere, even if you're absolute beginners. I'll try my best to help you speak confidently with short Vietnamese conversations from day 1.
There are 2 types of lessons:
1. Tailor-made style:
The lesson will be customized to your level, requirement or interest. You will receive as much support as you need. Ideally for beginner and pre-intermediate students.
2. General Conversations:

Thúy has helped me study Vietnamese for 8 months now. I started out only knowing “Xin chào” and “Cảm ơn”, and have now made a trip to Hanoi where I held basic conversations with native speakers. Thúy provides a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy for you to say “I don’t understand this, can you explain it?” Especially with the tones, where I felt embarrassed by how many times I had to practice, but she was always patient and helped me get it right. And she continues to correct me with pronunciation each lesson! You can’t learn a language in only a few hours each week, so you have to practice on your own outside of class, and Thúy recommended great resources to help me in studying Vietnamese outside of our class time.

We had a really good conversation about a variety of topics including plans and stories in my personal life as well as about political situation in US. She kept it at a level I could mostly understand but also pushed me to try new ways of speaking in Vietnamese.
