With degrees in International Business and International Relations and almost a decade of experience living across Europe, Asia and Latin America, visiting over 40 countries in the process, I blend language learning with global perspectives.

In our lessons, My aim is for you to talk for around 70% of the time, and me for 30% of the time. This is the best way to learn a new language, according to scientific research!
It's important for me to have fun, as well as productive lessons. To do this, the lessons start with a short 'free conversation' for 5–10 minutes to check your English 'for daily life'. Then, a 'warm-up game' for around 10 minutes, which usually focus on 'collocations' - which are crucial to speaking English more naturally.
After that, we will move on to the main part of the lesson, whether that be more structured conversation practice, reading and discussing articles, test preparation, or working with a textbook. My lessons & teaching style

I have lots of experience speaking with people from all over the world, and specialise in conversation & discussion based learning, in addition to academic & Business English.
To improve conversational English, I also have many exercises that work directly on becoming a confident and fluent English speaker.
I have also helped many students on Italki prepare for exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, CFE, CAE and CPE, and really enjoy helping students pass such exams.
I can even send you a textbook for free, or set homework tasks for you.

Stephen is a great teacher and has helped me so much over the last few years to upgrade my English from an elementary to intermediate level. Even though I still sometimes speak in 'broken English', Stephen somehow always finds a way to understand what I am trying to say and to helps me to express myself in English more or less how I would in my native language. Besides improving my English, Stephen has also always been an inspiration to me, and has taught me many things relating to subjects such as health, fitness, nutrition, culture and more. Stephen's lessons are challenging but it's worth it!

Stephen is a great teacher and I highly recommend him for preparing for the Cambridge C1 exam! He knows the exam inside out and prepared me very well for all parts of it. The best thing about it was that, despite the intensive work, the lessons were always very motivating and enjoyable. Stephen is not only highly skilled, but also very friendly and patient. You can tell that he really wants you to succeed. Thanks to him, I now feel very well prepared for the exam!
