After two years on Italki, Filippo’s method is by far the most impactful I’ve found. I had a great second lesson with Filippo! Filippo has a true passion for film that really shines through, and his cinema-focused lessons are a great way to both learn more about film (especially Italian film) and also have a new and interesting topic to cover in each class. Filippo is very prepared for each lesson and even sends discussion questions in advance to offer an opportunity for additional writing practice or help prepare for discussion. He does a great job facilitating discussion during the lesson and provides a good balance of letting the conversation flow and giving feedback. Would definitely recommend, especially for intermediate/advanced learners who are looking for additional exposure to native materials/natural dialogue through film. Grazie mille!

Filippo brought energy, focus and enthusiasm to our lesson despite me being rather tired. In reviewing my written responses to questions about this week's film, Filippo provided a lot of useful grammar and vocabulary feedback, including two pages of explanation and examples to help me better understand, for example, how to more accurately choose between "che" and "chi". Thanks to Filippo organising all my learning with him on Notion, I can easily extract vocab and concepts I want to memorise and convert these to Anki flashcards. I cannot recommend Filippo enough as an Italian teacher! His teaching style is not only engaging but also incredibly effective. We not only talk about a wide range of topics but also discuss films and learn new words, which has significantly improved my vocabulary. Our lessons have already boosted my confidence in speaking and understanding Italian. Thanks to Filippo, I’ve made remarkable progress in a short amount of time, and I now feel much more comfortable using Italian in real-life situations. Filippo is a great instructor. He has an amazing knowledge of Italian (and other) films, which leads to interesting and insightful conversations... conversations that I would easily have in English, but that are a (perfect) stretch for me in Italian. I find myself learning new vocabulary along with new ways to express myself. It's a fantastic way to learn!
