After two years on Italki, Filippo’s method is by far the most impactful I’ve found. And he does it more creatively and insightfully than any teacher I’ve had, online or in person. Through carefully chosen films and thoughtful, layered discussions, he invites you to build meaning, form ideas, and speak with real depth. I could understand a lot before, but couldn’t speak fluidly. Filippo is helping to change that. His impeccable taste in film makes the process not just effective, but a genuine joy. I had a great second lesson with Filippo! Filippo has a true passion for film that really shines through, and his cinema-focused lessons are a great way to both learn more about film (especially Italian film) and also have a new and interesting topic to cover in each class. Filippo is very prepared for each lesson and even sends discussion questions in advance to offer an opportunity for additional writing practice or help prepare for discussion. He does a great job facilitating discussion during the lesson and provides a good balance of letting the conversation flow and giving feedback. Would definitely recommend, especially for intermediate/advanced learners who are looking for additional exposure to native materials/natural dialogue through film. Grazie mille!

Filippo's teaching methods are always fascinating and incredibly useful. He uses films to create conversations, not just about the film itself, but everything that surrounds it: the period in which it is set; how it relates to current issues; personal feelings about the protagonists etc. On top of this the students gets to answer questions beforehand that Filippo painstakingly corrects. In short, each lesson is a complete learning experience. I'm not only improving my Italian but learning lots about Italian history, culture, politics and cinema. And with such a vast array of films to choose from, you can tailor the experience to your own preferences. In short, if you love films and want to use them to improve your Italian, then I thoroughly recommend these lessons.

I cannot recommend Filippo enough as an Italian teacher! His teaching style is not only engaging but also incredibly effective. We not only talk about a wide range of topics but also discuss films and learn new words, which has significantly improved my vocabulary. Our lessons have already boosted my confidence in speaking and understanding Italian. Thanks to Filippo, I’ve made remarkable progress in a short amount of time, and I now feel much more comfortable using Italian in real-life situations.
