After two years on Italki, Filippo’s method is by far the most impactful I’ve found. I could understand a lot before, but couldn’t speak fluidly. Filippo is helping to change that. His impeccable taste in film makes the process not just effective, but a genuine joy. I had a great second lesson with Filippo! Filippo has a true passion for film that really shines through, and his cinema-focused lessons are a great way to both learn more about film (especially Italian film) and also have a new and interesting topic to cover in each class. Filippo is very prepared for each lesson and even sends discussion questions in advance to offer an opportunity for additional writing practice or help prepare for discussion. He does a great job facilitating discussion during the lesson and provides a good balance of letting the conversation flow and giving feedback. Would definitely recommend, especially for intermediate/advanced learners who are looking for additional exposure to native materials/natural dialogue through film. Grazie mille!

Frequento il corso “Learn Italian Through Film” ormai da qualche mese, ed è stata una gioia assoluta. Guardare film italiani degni di nota è qualcosa che amo e che farei comunque da solo, ma viverli in questo contesto strutturato e coinvolgente ha fatto una differenza notevole nel mio apprendimento. La mia comprensione orale migliora costantemente, quasi senza rendermene conto, semplicemente immergendomi nella lingua ogni settimana. Fil è un insegnante incredibilmente coinvolgente e competente che porta vera passione e intuizione in ogni classe. Le discussioni sono vivaci, ponderate e sinceramente divertenti, rendendo ogni sessione qualcosa che attendo con ansia. Se sei interessato ad approfondire il tuo italiano esplorando al contempo la ricchezza del cinema e della cultura italiana, non posso che consigliarti vivamente questo corso.

I cannot recommend Filippo enough as an Italian teacher! His teaching style is not only engaging but also incredibly effective. We not only talk about a wide range of topics but also discuss films and learn new words, which has significantly improved my vocabulary.
