I’m Lydie, and I live in Setúbal, a beautiful coastal city in Portugal. My passion lies in the art of language acquisition - learning and teaching. Portuguese is my native language, but I also speak English, Romanian, and some French. Because I’ve experienced the ups and downs of learning new languages myself, I understand the challenges that come with it — and I’m here to help you overcome them.Me as a Teacher
I began my language teaching journey in 2016 and have the privilege of teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where I earned a postgraduate degree in Teaching Portuguese as a Non-native Language. I hold TEFL and TEYL certificates, and I've honed my skills in teaching grammar and conversation to learners from age 4 to adults. I find joy in working with people from diverse backgrounds, believing in the mutual enrichment of sharing knowledge and experiences.My lessons & teaching style
I adopt a laid-back teaching style, favoring the communicative approach, as I believe that language is best learned through interaction and contextual vocabulary usage. My lessons encompass grammar, conversation, and pronunciation improvement, all tailored to your unique requirements and objectives.

Lydie is the best foreign language speaker I have ever had. Over the years I have struggled to learn a second language. I grew up in the U.S. when learning a second language was rare and so I had limited classes in school. Lydie has given me the confidence and thus the motivation to learn Portuguese. Lydie is amazing. Super kind, funny, friendly and when she corrects me it doesn’t bring the lesson to a halt. The lesson flows and move so fast I wish I had an hour lesson not a 30 minute lesson
