Привет! I’m Elena, a native Russian speaker and passionate language teacher based in Vienna. With a BA in History and an MA in Human Rights, I bring an academic perspective to language learning, making lessons rich in context and culture. For seven years, I’ve specialized in teaching Russian to all levels, from beginners mastering Cyrillic to advanced learners polishing fluency. My background in creative writing and history means our lessons can be as dynamic as you’d like: think grammar with a side of poetry or vocabulary through historical anecdotes! When I’m not teaching, I’m am researching or writing poetry, proof that language, for me, is alive. Let’s turn your Russian goal into reality

Me as a Teacher

I teach Russian as a foreign language for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. I have worked with a range of levels, ages, and abilities. I try to create a pleasant, friendly atmosphere in my lessons. I know that Russian is an intricate language, and it is highly significant to feel welcome while learning. I see myself not only as a teacher but also as a kind of curator. It is crucial to set small goals together with the students. Their achievements motivate and show results. In addition to constant improvement in the Russian language, I read a lot of new information about learning tools as such.

My lessons & teaching style

I conduct classes in English or Russian depending on a student’s language level The most important thing for me is to find an individual approach for each student. I build a study program depending on your requests. Whether you're interested in discussing complex academic topics or just want to chat about everyday life, I’d be thrilled to connect! Most of my lessons are based on a method of practice. I provide you with homework, but of course, I understand if you don't have time for it.

I’ve been studying Russian for a long time and have had many tutors over the years. Elena has been the most supportive and dedicated teacher I’ve ever had. It is always a pleasure to work with her, and she always has the best teaching materials for her students. She has even written her own materials and lessons tailored to the grammar concepts we’re working on. She’s super creative and a very attentive listener. We’ve been working together for a year now and my Russian has improved immeasurably with her.
