I'm Yongbin, a native speaker and tutor of three Chinese languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, and Teochew.
Born and raised in China, I have explored 45 countries and immersed myself in learning over 20 languages. My teaching style is fun, engaging, and patient, ensuring an enjoyable learning experience.
I’m passionate about traveling ✈️, writing ✍️, reading 📚, photography 📷, music 🎵, and watching movies and anime 🎬.

I have been teaching Chinese for 13 years, serving as a language guide and tutor rather than a traditional school teacher. My approach encourages you to engage in speaking and organizing language independently and actively.

HOW will we learn?
✅ In each class, we will cover 1–3 grammar structures and learn 10–15 new vocabulary words.
✅ We’ll follow the structure of HSK, but we won’t rely on reading the textbook.
✅ The focus will be on conversation, with dialogues and materials we create together.
✅ Let’s keep it practical: we’re learning to communicate, not to become linguists.
✅ Understanding Chinese characters will be part of our strategy to enhance your learning efficiency.
✅ After each class, I’ll send you all the materials.

Bachelor’s - Japanese 日本語During my four years of university study in my major, I not only systematically studied the Japanese language, but also learned about Japan’s history, politics, culture, and other subjects. My graduation thesis was a comparative study of Chinese and Japanese folk customs.

It's a pleasure taking lessons with Yongbin. He comes prepared, but is flexible to cover adjacent vocabulary relevant to my life and the topic at hand. Every class has a bit of review of past material and new material building on prior knowledge.
The lessons are engaging, and Yongbin takes notes of new vocab as the class progresses, creating slides that he shares immediately after the lesson.
The atmosphere is friendly, personable and the time just flies by. I'm looking forward to continuing my learning voyage with Yongbin.
