About Me

I am Michela, a DITALS-certified Italian language professor and native speaker based near Florence. With an academic background in Modern Literature and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from universities in Paris and Siena, I have since dedicated myself to research and teaching. Me as a Teacher
Since 2009, I have been teaching Italian as a Foreign Language to adults from diverse backgrounds, including manager, asylum seekers and university students. Since 2024, I have also been a Lecturer of Italian at the University of Palermo. I offer courses for all levels and goals: general Italian, professional needs or simply a passion for Italian. As a CILS examiner, I provide focused guidance, clear strategies, helping students approach exams with confidence and awareness. I create a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can experiment with the language, gain confidence, and enjoy the process of discovering Italian in a way that suits their interests and goals. My lessons & teaching style
My method combines communication and structure from day one. Grammar is always contextualized and finds immediate application in meaningful interaction. Each course is carefully tailored to individual goals and learning profiles. Beginners are guided through conversation within a supportive environment and a textbook framework. At intermediate and advanced levels, lessons expand into free discussion, authentic texts, and systematic grammatical refinement. I provide organized materials and share notes. I also offer preparation for CILS and CELI Certifications, including strategy training and full skill development. Specialized pathways are available for the food & wine sector.My teaching material

Michela has a sixth sense about language. When I struggle to express a nuanced thought she is able to both cognitively and emotionally ascertain precisely what it is I'm trying to say. This is a rarity.
Her humor and her empathy are a winning combination which augments her obvious intellect. Finally, she has an ocean of patience for me, far more than any instructor with whom I've previously worked.
Her ability as an instructor is unrivaled, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I have been studying with Michela for a couple of months now. She is a fantastic teacher! I am still in the stage where I feel like a beginner and need to study a lot more. But I'm also amazed at how much I have learned in such a short time. She is very patient and encouraging. She is also generous with her time and her help. I feel lucky to have found her on this site! I plan to continue studying with her until I feel much more comfortable holding conversations in Italian.
