About Me

I am Michela, a DITALS-certified Italian language professor and native speaker based near Florence. With a degree in Modern Literature and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology. Since 2009, I have taught diverse learners, and I currently serve as a Lecturer at the University of Palermo and a CILS examiner. I offer courses for all levels and goals: general Italian, Certifications, professional needs or simply a passion for Italian. I create a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can experiment with the language, gain confidence, and enjoy the process of discovering Italian in a way that suits their interests and goals. My method combines communication and structure from day one. Each course is carefully tailored. Beginners are guided in a supportive environment and a textbook framework; at intermediate and advanced levels, lessons expand into free discussion, authentic texts, and systematic grammatical refinement. I also offer preparation for CILS and CELI Certifications, including strategy training and full skill development. Specialized pathways are available for the food & wine sector. Michela has a sixth sense about language. When I struggle to express a nuanced thought she is able to both cognitively and emotionally ascertain precisely what it is I'm trying to say. This is a rarity.
Her humor and her empathy are a winning combination which augments her obvious intellect. Finally, she has an ocean of patience for me, far more than any instructor with whom I've previously worked.
Her ability as an instructor is unrivaled, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I have been studying with Michela for a couple of months now. She is a fantastic teacher! I am still in the stage where I feel like a beginner and need to study a lot more. But I'm also amazed at how much I have learned in such a short time. She is very patient and encouraging. She is also generous with her time and her help. I feel lucky to have found her on this site! I plan to continue studying with her until I feel much more comfortable holding conversations in Italian.
