Hello! My name is Josh, and I’m from Chicago, USA. I’m passionate about helping students feel confident and comfortable using English in real life. After graduating from university in 2008 and earning my TESOL certification, I moved to Seoul, South Korea, where I worked as an English teacher for 7 years, so I can speak and read Korean. I’m also proud to have been teaching on Italki since 2017, helping students from all over the world reach their English goals providing customized lessons tailored to your needs.
In addition to teaching, I’m an entrepreneur. I started an online business selling electric bikes and other rideables in 2016, grew it successfully, and sold it in 2019.Me as a Teacher
I’ve been teaching English for 17+ years, including 10 years online, working with all ages and levels—from young learners (4+) to business professionals. My lessons are interactive, communicative, and fully personalized to your goals. I encourage both my children and adult students to speak freely, make mistakes, and learn through supportive correction and feedback. After each lesson, I keep organized notes in a shared document so you can review vocabulary, corrections, and progress anytime. I use real-life materials, clear explanations, and lots of speaking practice to help you build confidence and fluency. My lessons & teaching style
I teach children and adults from beginner(A1) to advanced levels (C2), including exam prep(KET,PET,FCE, and IELTS) for both. My lessons are interactive, communicative, and fully tailored to your goals so you can use English confidently in real life.
For kids, I use Oxford’s Everybody Up and Let’s Go plus songs, games,phonics and activities to make learning fun and effective. I also use Reading Explorer and WonderSkills to build reading, vocabulary, and thinking skills. For advanced children we often do debate, discussion, interview prep etc.
For adults, I offer flexible lessons for conversation, settling in English speaking countries, IELTs, interviews, and professional English etc.My teaching material

We have been teaching with Josh for 12 months since last summer. We are very satisfied. Josh has the ability to organize lessons in a more interesting format if the child is not in a good condition and to bring out his abilities. And Josh has a good understanding of South Korea, so when a child doesn't know a certain word, he can often explain it in Korean. This is a great advantage that is hard to find in native speakers.
