Mei is a truly excellent teacher. I tried 5 different Cantonese iTalki teachers and liked her best (even though her rate was quite a bit higher). She is patient, engaging, professional and always prepared. She uses the TPRS method, which I was not familiar with until I met her – vocabulary is incorporated into a story, making it easier (and more natural) to learn than doing memorisation, tests or drills. I enjoy learning this way because it is systematic but not boring. It is easy to find teachers to practise informal conversation with, but harder to find ones that teach in a structured way. Mei actually prepares personalised lessons, helps review old content, and sends a vocabulary list after each class. She is flexible (she helped me practice when I needed help with a graduate school interview) and intuitive about adapting to your level. She has experience teaching all ages and profiencies, but I found her especially useful as an intermediate speaker. Enthusiastically recommend her.

Very fun lesson with Mei. From just one class using the TPRS method I was feeling more relaxed speaking. Looking forward to the next classes.

It was another great lesson with Mei. I like the storytelling approach to have a chance to be creative. And Mei is very good to accommodate different funny ideas, as well as help me with questions on on grammar and vocabulary points that from outside the lesson too.

Great lesson with Mei, the story approach makes for fun lessons (rooster that needs glasses to read the paper, spider that eats with its feet) while building in important grammar points and making vocab stick.
