Professional EAL teacher with 17 years of experience helping students achieve their English goals A Toronto native with Uruguayan roots, I bring over 17 years of teaching experience, from elementary school to university, and a global perspective shaped by over 10 years of living abroad in Japan and Korea, I support learners of all ages in achieving their English goals through engaging, communication-focused lessons. I specialize in conversational English and test preparation (IELTS, Cambridge), helping students reach target scores. My approach emphasizes active participation, cultural relevance, and real-world application. I am also experienced in designing curricula and courses, including designing and implementing programs for universities, and have taught Business English classes in Toronto, and had worked for a mutual fund company. In addition, I do have experience with different learning styles and needs, and have developed curricula and programs tailored to meet the needs of the different proficiency levels of students. In class, I do expect students to fully participate, as English is not learned passively, but by actively engaging and using it. (5-minute breaks for 1-hour lessons optional)
