Hello! My name is Julija, I'm from Latvia, Riga.
I'm fluent in Latvian, Russian, English and German. I've been working as a translator/interpreter/reviser and private language teacher since 2006. Let me help you with your language studies!
I have great interest in cultures and languages, love to travel and meet new people. I'm open to talk about any topics. I learn a lot of new things every day and happy to share my knowledge with others.
My personal hobbies are creating handmade things (traditional and modern crafts), movies, cooking and other things in between.
I'm friendly, patient, sincere, adaptable, diligent and always passionate about learning and teaching languages.Me as a Teacher
For the past 10+ years I have been working as a translator, reviser, interpreter and language teacher.
I have a Bachelor and Master level professional degree in translation and interpretation.
My teaching experience is about 5 years – in private, in groups up to 20 people and online.
I have various experience, but personally prefer helping beginners and intermediate language users to improve their skills, especially speaking, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The main focus is on:
- Conversational practice and role-play
- Real in-life use of new words and phrases with understanding the context
- Overall understanding, listening and reading skills
- Proper grammar and writing skills My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are very customized and goal-oriented. I'm very patient and try to explain everything thoroughly. I also help to understand situational and cultural context. Students set the pace and the topics, which are of biggest interest to them.
We mainly learn new words and phrases a student can use right away in real life. On a more advanced level we have conversations about different topics, read literature, use audio and video materials. If you want to follow a textbook - we can do that as well. But if you prefer the lessons to be more relaxed and fun, I can offer different games, role-play and other fun activities.
