Hello, my name is Marvin, I'm French but I currently live in Spain. Thanks to my language assistant job, I got to travel to several countries in Europe, which allowed me to improve my English and my Spanish. Learning languages is one of my greatest passions, even more when it comes to speaking them. I'm currently learning Galician and my next challenge will be Japanese. I'm open to many conversation topics but I'm especially interested in games, whether card games, video games, or board games. I also like sports, particularly collective sports. I play a few musical instruments, the drum and a little bit of piano.
Me as a Teacher
Over my 3 years and 1600+ lessons of experience, my students have mostly highlighted my patience and my ability to answer technical questions efficiently. They also appreciated how I keep the conversation fluent making it feel natural. I acquired these skills mainly through my 4 years of assistantship, when my work consisted in going into classes of high school or language school to help the students and teachers improve their oral French. In addition to that, I professionalised myself much more through my master's and the internships.
My lessons & teaching style
I like being concrete and to do so, I get to know my students to pick examples that will make the most sense to them. If possible, I incorporate games or fun activities in the planning as I'm convinced that is one of the best ways to learn, I benefited a lot from it myself. I rely regularly on articles to prepare a theme you like. Also, I use a lot of images, gestures, and definitions. Even if I know the native language of my students, I use French as much as possible, adapting the level and the speed for more effective learning. Moreover, I can rely on what I learnt with the Alliance Française and my Master's to create and organise my lesson plans efficiently and professionally.

Great practice before an oral proficiency interview - warmup. Thank you! Marvin is very accessible and reliable and has an outstanding command of French grammar. I asked him some pretty targeted and pointed questions on grammar specifics, and he was able to answer them immediately without hesitation or references. Very impressive!

Every time I speak with Marvin, my understanding of French gets better and better. The conversation flows naturally even though I am still quite a beginner. I strongly recommend Marvin! I can't wait until the next class!

Thanks, Marvin, That was great. Especially that you spoke French all the time and that you stayed calm with such a slow learner like me.

Marvin is an excellent teacher who is proficient at guiding a conversation. I prefer total immersion classes and he obliges, but he is also very flexible in teaching style. I would highly recommend him for anyone trying to learn French at any level.
