Hello!
My name is Jivana. I am a Portuguese teacher with a Teaching Degree in Language (Portuguese - French) and Literature.
I love to learn new foreign languages, to know more about the world around me, and to immerse myself in different cultures.
During my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading all kinds of books, and spending time with the people I love and with my pets.Me as a Teacher
I started giving lessons in 2015, when I did my internship at a Canadian bilingual school in Brazil. This working experience in the area of education was the first of many others.
I understand how challenging learning a new language can be, and I am here to help you achieve your goals.My lessons & teaching style
My lessons are focused on every student’s individual skills, needs and interests.
I strive to make my classes the most dynamic and light as possible, in order to maintain the students’ attention, and also to encourage them to keep improving and progressing in their target language.
I work with online and digitized teaching materials, pdf files, articles and texts, grammar and vocabulary exercises, songs and videos. Besides learning and practising European Portuguese with me, you will also be able to learn more about Portugal's and/or Brazil's culture and customs.My teaching material

Actually Jivana is a good conversation teacher and I have been booking lesson packages with her for the last months. However I haven't been happy about some humanly negotiations. I am a working mom and I had an emergent situation 30 min before the lesson and I wrote to her, she said she can't reschedule because of italki policies. If we didn't know each other or if that was something that happened recurrently she might have been right but I am a neurologist and I can't charge patients who cancel their appointlements or even just don't appear in their appointments. These things can be tolerated sometimes because this is life. I just wanted to write this to warn students. This might be even a good attitute for some people but not for me. Thank you anyway.
