After studying foreign languages at the University of Bordeaux, where I also competed in fencing at a high level, I pursued my passion for education and qualified as a primary school teacher. For 25 years, I taught young French pupils, beginning my career in country schools nestled among the vineyards of the Bordeaux region. Today, I devote myself to teaching French to adults on Italki, using my experience and a conversational approach to make learning this language appealing and enjoyable. Beyond teaching, I’ve always embraced an active and creative lifestyle. Sailing the Mediterranean was a great escape as were drawing and painting. And still today, sport.Me as a Teacher
I’m calm, patient, and attentive, with an open mind and a good sense of humor, even enjoying a bit of derision. I focus on clear pronunciation to make sure I’m understood, and luckily, I don’t have any particular accent! Feel free to interrupt me if something isn’t clear— I'll be happy to repeat or rephrase anything as needed. I usually write the new words, the expressions and corrections in the chat window during conversations. After the session, I'll give you a personalized summary that you can complete with your own notes. My lessons & teaching style
Learning will focus on conversation and is therefore designed for adult learners with at least an A2 level of French, rather than beginners or children. We can discuss everyday life, current events, any topic of your choice. I can offer you material such as news articles, videos, images to comment on, or you can submit your own material if you wish. We can also try role-playing, have fun with quizzes, vocabulary games, and more ! Let me know what suits you best.
This oral practice can also be an opportunity to review or clarify grammar points if necessary.

My lessons with Myriam involve conversations. There are no prepared texts, no studying and no homework. We talk about subjects that arise naturally, although if I have questions about French usage I have encountered during the week we discuss that. Our conversations are always interesting. I look forward to speaking with Myriam each week. My level of conversational French has risen considerably since I began to meet with Myriam. I am comfortable speaking French now, although I was not so comfortable when I began my studies with her. Thank you, Myriam!
