Hi! I am Léopoldine, a French community teacher from France. I am patient, open-minded and friendly. Passionate about cooking, I love discovering world cuisines. I can spend hours in cafés drinking lattes (or a glass of wine, depending on the time), talking about cinema and sharing French culture.
I got a Master’s degree in Food tourism management. I used to live in Paris for 3 years, working in communications for online businesses. In 2020, I moved to Canada to travel and improve my English, which has always been my “bête noire” at school. I am currently living in Mexico where I am learning Spanish (and Salsa!). So I am very aware of what it is to learn a foreign language as an adult!Me as a Teacher
I passed the DAEFLE in 2022: a certificate from the Alliance Française de Paris (a French organization which promotes the language all over the world), which gives me the ability to teach French as a foreign language. I am also teaching online Canadian children French for two years and I was a tutor for kids during my studies in France.
In my class, I want you to feel comfortable. I think it is the most important thing so that you can express yourself. I adapt my lesson to suit your objectives through the use of articles and videos. I try to focus on what you should improve according to your project: traveling, studying… I also offer to work with Google Docs to follow our lessons.My lessons & teaching style
Be able to communicate! From my experience, I have been learning English since I was 14, but I was not capable of speaking when I was traveling. I was ashamed and felt very frustrated. I believe that the key is confidence, and mistakes are useful for learning and improving. There is no point learning a language if you cannot use your knowledge in real life.
I try to contextualize vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation so that it is linked to everyday life: you can after buy a French baguette like a local! As a teacher, I give you the tools to build your confidence for being able to speak French in a relaxed conversation and I encourage as much exploration of the language in everyday life.My teaching material
