Certified language instructor with over 15+ year of teaching experience and PhD in Russian Studies I am a certified language teacher and college instructor with PhD in Slavic Languages and Cultures. I have been teaching Russian for over 15 years, both in Russia and the USA. It is my native language. I was born in grew up in Crimea. I am a passionate language learner. In addition to Russian, I also speak Ukrainian, English, Spanish, and Polish. I have also studied German, French, and Hebrew. I love traveling and learning about different cultures. I am especially interested in literature and history. I prefer individual tutoring because it allows me to meet specific needs of each students. I plan my classes based on my student's language goals and interests. I use authentic materials and help my students to incorporate language learning into their everyday life. I believe that language is not a goal on its own, it is a tool to reach other goals. My lessons are based on student's goals. I believe my role is to direct, answer questions and to provide feedback. Language is all about communication. I always listen to my students and give them plenty of opportunities to talk. I don't interrupt the flow of speech but provide feedback afterwards. I use plenty of authentic resources and task-based assignments to ensure my students are ready to use the language outside of class.
