21+ years teaching. Adults, Kids, IELTS. Canada government-certified. UBC graduate. Vancouver local. My highest scoring IELTS students have received 8.0 to 8.5. I have specialized in IELTS (Academic and General) since 2016. In addition, I have taught English lessons to kindergarten to grade 12 students. I graduated from the University of British Columbia, in my hometown Vancouver, and am a Government of Canada certified English teacher. My students include Canadian and international students aged 5 to 18 enrolled in public and private schools in British Columbia. Finally, I have 10 years of experience teaching business English to corporate employees (i.e., Fortune 500 companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange) at an international American language school - Shanghai branch. I have worked as an IELTS expert since 2016 teaching in-person IELTS in Canadian classrooms to students aged 15 to 50+ and I have been teaching adults and kids since 2005. Since 2006, I have been teaching full time as a certified professional teacher. In physical classrooms, I have taught students from 40 to 50 countries as well as 15 to 20 countries in online classes. Before each class, I encourage students to prepare questions that they wish to ask. This is particularly useful as students have different strengths and weaknesses. What are significant challenges for some students are not for others. Some fun facts about me: - Favourite news channels: BBC, CBC - Pairing red wine and snacking with surfing YouTube - Sunbathing and hanging out at beautiful beaches

I had a really great first conversation lesson with Sammy! We talked about a variety of interesting topics, and the time just flew by. Sammy is very friendly, easy to talk to, and made me feel comfortable speaking English from the very beginning. The conversation was relaxed and enjoyable, and I had a great opportunity to practice my speaking skills naturally. I’m really looking forward to having more lessons with Sammy. I highly recommend Sammy’s lessons to anyone looking for interesting and enjoyable English conversation practice!
