My name is Shimei Botes and I am from South Africa. I grew up learning two languages (English & Afrikaans) in a country that has up to 11 national languages. We are a country known for its vibrant culture and color and this is what makes teaching so amazing for me!
I am used to interacting with people from around the globe as I have been teaching English since the beginning of 2019. I absolutely love teaching because not only does it mean I get to talk to different people, but I also get to give them a gift - the gift of language!Me as a Teacher
Many teachers would tell you to read English books and work through a worksheet by yourself. I say there are better, more productive and more interesting ways to learn English!
During my time as an English teacher, I have picked up a few tips and tricks that have proven helpful to many students and this is something I would love to share with more students.
English can be difficult but only if you have the wrong teacher. Let me be the teacher that shows you it can be done!My lessons & teaching style
I am happy to offer basic conversational classes to patch up the students’ spoken English, as well as formal structured classes using various TEFL-endorsed materials that are focused on improving spoken and written English.
I also make use of lesson plans and course work when provided by a specific company/school. I have taught English to various age groups ranging from pre-schoolers to pensioners, all of whom came from across the globe. My students are from Russia, China, Japan, United Kingdom, Australia, Vietnam, Germany, Albania, Egypt, Spain, Italy, Israel, Czech Republic, France, Indonesia, Korea, Portugal and more.My teaching material
