Today it has been one year since I began learning with Shinnie. When I started, I wasn’t even sure how long I would continue, but Shinnie made me fall in love with this language. I don't think any other teacher can match what he brings to teaching. His intense passion and dedication can be felt from the very first lesson. He’s so adaptive to different requests and has helped me write and correct letters to friends, and even learn how to understand e-sports videos that I enjoy. He doesn’t just teach words and grammar, he teaches how to learn and study effectively, allowing me to progress faster than I thought possible. His unique method allows for natural and enjoyable acquisition of the language, without stress. I started out not knowing a single word of Korean, and Shinnie taught me from the ground up. Today, I can have conversations with my Korean friends without using English, and they are amazed at how much I have improved in just one year. I’m so grateful to have found Shinnie!

I had another wonderful lesson with Shinnie. His teaching style is easy to follow and when he explains things in Korean it is always in a comprehensible way. The lessons are always fun, interesting and engaging. One thing I particularly enjoy is that his lessons are structured with his own curriculum, but that he is free to change it according to your needs. We have started doing mainly conversations nowadays, and even though my speaking is nowhere near as fluent, he is really patient and makes me feel comfortable. Which allowed me to have more confidence in my ability to speak and hold at least some small conversations (I think). Besides that it’s good to discuss my findings during immersion with Shinnie, because he has a great understanding of the language. Overall, I would highly recommend Shinnie to anyone looking for a Korean tutor on italki. They are knowledgeable, patient, and adept at tailoring their lessons to the student's specific needs and interests.

I dont usually write reviews, but I really feel like Shinnie deserves one. I’ve taken courses with Shinnie for about a month now. Over the course of that time, I can say without a doubt that he is one of the best tutors out there. I struggle to learn on my own, since I don’t know where to start and how to study. However, Shinnie knows exactly how to guide me into getting closer to my goal of speaking Korean. Shinnie teaches what will be used, not just random topics from a textbook that aren’t natural. In my time with him so far, I’ve learned to free talk a little bit with the grammar list that he has taught me. I actually feel like I am progressing, before I felt like I was stuck.
