I aim to create a student-centered, communicative virtual classroom, where my student(s) are active throughout the entire class, whether conversing, listening with a goal in mind, writing, and asking/answering questions. I feel it is important to laugh and have some fun in every lesson, and welcome mistakes in order to learn and grow. If lessons aren't fun and become too burdensome for students, they might lost motivation and stop making progress toward their linguistic goals all together.My lessons & teaching style
I have access to several textbook curriculums that I can use based on my students' needs and goals. I use visual elements like a white board, the text chat box, gestures, pictures, realia etc. to explain concepts to students in various ways. I am not afraid to stand up away from my computer and act something out, be silly, or draw pictures in order to generate understanding. I aim to create dynamic and active lessons where time passes quickly and students enjoy the learning process. I also encourage students to bring in real life language models (emails, books, articles etc.) so we can focus on what is most important to them and their lives.Certificates
CELTA-Pass A - Teaching House - 2020CELTA is a qualification for teaching English as a foreign language. It focuses on developing practical skills with face-to-face teaching practice, which will provide you with the techniques and confidence you need to begin teaching as soon as you finish the course. Senior InterpreterAfter many years of experience I was promoted to Senior Interpreter, a position in which I am tasked to take on the most challenging interpreting work, as well as mentor less senior members of the interpreting staff as well as interpreting interns.

Assistant Interpreter ManagerSupervisory duties include, but are not limited to, supervising Interpreters, conducting annual performance reviews, monitoring the skill and professional development of subordinate Interpreters, serving as a liaison between the Interpreters and the Interpreter Manager, mediating Interpreter related issues as they arise, and reporting up to the Interpreter Manager for disciplinary matters, whenever necessary.

Core InterpreterPrimary responsibilities include providing clear and accurate ASL/English interpreting services for Access’ clients mainly in the DC Metropolitan Area. Interpreter will provide services in settings which include, but are not limited to, business or professional meetings, trainings, medical appointments, conferences, media events, performing arts performances, graduate and undergraduate settings, platform presentations, legal and Access Video Interpreter Application (AVIA).

Classroom InstructorI am currently a volunteer English instructor at Washington English Center (we have moved to virtual one-on-one classes for future terms since the COVID-19 outbreak). Before moving virtual. classes were once a week, and co-taught. We followed a textbook curriculum for a group of level 1B students. We focused on vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation along with games, presentations, and listening and speaking practice.
